Marquis Teague appears to be coming alive as he has had two straight games with more assists than turnovers. Earlier in the week against Radford Teague made 5 assists and only committed 2 turnovers while adding 13 points. Tonight against a sharp-shooting Portland team Teague had 8 assists made 0 (yes that is a ZERO) turnovers and added 14 points,
Teague had a great defensive game making 4 steals and only committing 1 personal foul. Teague's season assist total is 26 with 20 turnovers or a 1.3:1 assist to turnover ratio, quite a 2 game turnaround. Teague only shot 30% from the field but made 5 of 6 from the free-throw stripe.
Teague will need to sharpen his skills as the Cats have St. Johns and number 5 North Carolina on tap next week. Kentucky still looked sluggish on offense and appeared to struggle with their perimeter defense against a good shooting Portland squad. Portland shot 11 for 23 from the 3-point line and nearly out rebounded the number 2 ranked Kentucky Wildcats with 35 rebounds to 36 for UK.
