Coach Cal says he "dropped the ball" in loss to Louisville

Down by 17 midway through the second half, sophomore Kyle Wiljer and freshman Archie Goodwin led an impressive Kentucky comeback against #4 Louisville late in the second half that brought the young Wildcats to within 3 in the final minute of play.  Coach Calipari told his Wildcats if they made the game close, he would bring them home.......Well, not so much.

With just over 30 seconds remaining, Archie Goodwin found himself double teamed beside the Kentucky bench. “I’m standing there thinking timeout and I didn’t call it." Calipari said. Goodwin would loose the ball which resulted in an easy layup for the #4 Cardinals. "That effectively ended the game. They got us right where we wanted to be and I dropped the ball,” Calipari said.." "I told them this was on me.”

Coach Cal also made another critical error in leaving Kentucky center Willie Stein in the game late in the second half long after he was visibly exhausted.  Stein would go on to miss 6 straight free throws ( the cats shot 11-23 for the game) in the closing minutes.  Kentucky fought hard in the second half coming back from a 17 point deficit, but came up short losing to their in state rival 80-77.
