Northwood At Kentucky Halftime Report

Northwood 25 ---- Kentucky 40

It's the first instance of competition for the 2012-13 Kentucky Wildcats Basketball team and so far, so good. Nerlens Noel is a beast but he needs to gain weight, he is not as coordinated as Anthony Davis, that's the first thing I noticed. So he will not be able to make up for lack of body size with foot work.

I think our most polished player thus far is Archie Goodwin, but Ryan Harrow is not far behind. Alex Poythress can play but he is emotional and hopefully he is not Terrence Jones 2.0, with regard to the pouting.

We will have a fine ball club but and we showed signs Calipari's signature defense. We couldn't keep it up but that will come with time.  Of course our offense was largely discombobulated and resembled a tangled ball of fishing line. We did not have the offensive flow to take advantage of our Twin Towers lineup of Nerlens Noel and Willie Cauley-Stein but that lineup will get nothing but better.

John Calipari went with a 7 man rotation with Julius Mays and Willie Cauley-Stein coming off the bench. One observation that caught my eye was the fact that Kyle Wiltjer has not improved on the defensive end. But you can't teach someone to be quick footed. Maybe Kyle Wiltjer needs to train by trying catch chicken, hey it worked for Rocky..
