Louisville Takes the 2012 Governor's Cup, Defeats UK 32 to 14

UK's lack of defense and lack of an effective rushing game, not mention the turnovers, lead to a 32 to 14 defeat at the hands of the 25th ranked Louisville Cardinals.
Louisville started the game with a 99 yard touchdown drive, and a 2-point conversion, to take an 8 to zip lead on the Cats. UK went with a fast tempo no huddle offense to control the defensive substitutions and quickly answered the Cards with their own 14 play touchdown drive. However it didn't take Louisville long to answer with another touchdown of their own.

UK's porous defense haunted them throughout the day as the defensive line certainly has not improved. If the D-Line cannot find a way to stop the run we will be in for yet another loooong UK Football season.

One bright spot for the Wildcats was Quarterback Maxwell Smith. He looked relatively sharp by throwing for 280 yards on 35 for 50 passing. UK's rushing was particularly pathetic with only 93 yards. CoShik Williams rushed for 62 yards on 10 attempts to lead the Cats' NON-rushing attack.

It certainly looks like UK Football is still UK Football. If Kentucky bombs the season, as many certainly expect, Joker Phillips will be on the UK hot-seat at the end of the year.

Kentucky will face Western Kentucky next....
