Kentucky and Indiana series over!!

The Washington Post has reported that Indiana officials have announced that they will not renew the contract to play Kentucky because of a disagreement over where to hold the games!!  This is without a doubt a tragedy for UK and IU fans alike!!  One of the greatest non-conference rivalries in the history of college basketball is over because of a disagreement as to where to play the game.  Games were originally played at campus sites from 1976 through 1986. Later regular season games rotated between Freedom Hall in Louisville and the Hoosier/RCA Dome from  91-2005, at which time they returned to playing on campus.
“In the final analysis, we want our student-athletes, our overall student body and our season-ticket holders to enjoy this series at Assembly Hall,” Glass said. Kentucky athletic director Mitch Barnhart said he was informed by the Indiana director Thursday of the decision.

Indiana and Kentucky have been playing on and off since the 1950's, and are going to be powerhouses for the years to come.  This is a sad situation.  It was thought that the friendship between the coaches would lead to some common ground, but sadly it has not.  Hopefully these two blue blood dynasties can rekindle there rivalry in the near future.
